Dentsu A/NZ creates chief marketing officer role

Agency brings on experienced agency leader to the newly created marketing leadership position

Dentsu has brought on a local chief marketing officer to drive understanding and awareness of its portfolio of agency brands.

Annalise Brown joins the agency in the newly created role with a raft of business leadership and communications experience. Her resume includes roles CEO or managing director roles at enero Group consumer PR division, Frank, Hidden Characters, Porter Novelli, Splendid Communications and Spin Communications. She’s also spent several years running her own consulting offering.

At dentsu, Brown will be responsible for go-to-market strategies and brand communications for the full range of brands under its umbrella including Carat, iProspect, dentsu X, Merkle, BWM Isobar, Haystac, Cox Inall, MKTG and SMG, as well as the parent brand.

Dentsu A/NZ CEO, Angela Tangas, said Brown’s deep experience in PR, marketing and the agency landscape, most recently owning and operating her own consultancy, were key reasons for her appointment to the CMO post.

“Annalise has more than 20 years’ experience working with brands to develop communications strategies across a broad range of industries, including retail, financial services and not-for-profits,” Tangas stated.

“Having built a career focused on amplifying brands in the earned and owned space, Annalise is incredibly passionate about creating meaningful brand connections with varied audiences, and I know she will make an incredible impact for our clients, as well as profiling and celebrating the work we do to the wider market.”

Brown officially joins the dentsu A/NZ leadership team from 6 September 2021.

“I truly believe in the vision and purpose that Angela and the team are driving throughout the Group and this is an opportunity I could not let pass by,” she said.

Dentsu also recently brought on Matthew Cuming as executive director of communications for the Australia and New Zealand group.
