Nova Entertainment has confirmed its chief marketing officer, Tony Thomas, will leave the business this week after a nine-year tenure.

In a statement, Nova’s CEO, Cathy O’Connor said Thomas had played a critical role in the development, growth and success of the radio station.

“We are incredibly grateful for the contribution he has made,” she said. “His achievements include rebranding dmg Radio to Nova Entertainment, helping take Nov to the number one national network and developing an outstanding team of marketing professionals.”

Thomas’ last official day is 30 August. He is yet to confirm what his next professional plans are. Nova has also yet to confirm a replacement or its plans for the CMO position.

In a career spanning nine years, Thomas said there were plenty of highlights. He noted the debut of radio brand, smoothfm, the invention of the Nova Red Room and leading the Goat.com.au launch as a few such highlights.

“And importantly, building a team of marketing professionals who are the best in the media business,” he said.

In a former interview with CMO, Thomas also highlighted significant investment and work on building its data-driven audience insights, including the launch of ‘Nova Unite’ bringing together 150 pre-determined audience segments to better target media across its network.

Prior to joining Nova, Thomas had a short contract role with Coles Group covering advertising and media. His resume also includes senior marketing roles with ninemsn, PepsiCo and Diageo.
