Twitter partners with Foursquare to add precise locations to tweets

Twitter is about to catch up to Facebook circa 2011. The self-styled information network recently announced it will partner with Foursquare to let users tag your tweets with specific locations. Until now, including a location in a tweet only added the general area individuals were in, such as a city.

So far, Twitter's advertising team has concentrated on sponsored tweets and variants thereof that appear on Twitter.com and the company's mobile apps. But as the Wall Street Journal reports, Twitter is looking at a new place to put its ads: other websites.
