SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — November 1, 2018 — Sharon Melamed, Founder of business matchmaking site Matchboard, was named 2018 Suncorp Innovator of the Year at the Women in Digital (WID) Awards last Friday.

With a vision to make it fast and easy for companies to find the right suppliers for their needs, Melamed had the idea for the platform in 2012. She designed and delivered it in four months, with the help of a coding team in Israel. The platform, which is like a B2B version of an online dating site, specialises in the supply chain around sales, service and back office.

More than 2500 buyers at small, medium and large organisations have used Matchboard to find hundreds of services ranging from digital marketing and call centres to sales training and customer experience consultants. The matching service has resulted in individual transactions ranging from hundreds to millions of dollars. Thanks to successive Export Market Development Grants from Austrade, Matchboard has expanded to the UK, where it is pursuing a licensing model with a local partner.

WID judges were "impressed with the platform's innovative nature and proven market traction, reinforced by a large number of customer testimonials and raving fans."

Kristeen McCarthy, Suncorp’s Head of Digital Experience Design said “At Suncorp, we know that businesses need to attract, nurture and support women in digital roles to create more value for customers and encourage diversity of thought. We’re proud to partner with the Women in Digital Awards and I personally would like to congratulate Sharon Melamed from Matchboard for winning Innovator of the Year.”
