Sunita Gloster
Marketer’s champion and media diversity advocate, Sunita Gloster, has joined the board of directors at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers as a non-executive.
Gloster, who boasts of nearly 30 years’ experience across the media, marketing and professional services spaces, was appointed for her business and senior executive experience as well as her understanding of brand management and client focus, said Maurice Blackburn chair, Steve Bracks.
“Especially important to Maurice Blackburn is Sunita’s depth of experience in brand management and delivering a client-focused culture,” Bracks commented. “Maurice Blackburn is a household name and a leading brand within the professional services and legal space, synonymous with fighting for our clients and their right to access the legal system. Our clients, who are everyday Australian workers, consumers and investors, are proudly at the centre of everything that we do.
“Sunita has a long history of being committed to the same values as Maurice Blackburn and she shares our vision of a fairer Australia.”
Gloster said she was looking forward to helping the firm pursue its quest to provide more equal access to the law for all Australians as well as deliver a high-quality client experience.
“It is an absolute honour to join the Board of Australia’s leading plaintiff law firm. It's important to me that Maurice Blackburn has a proud and long history of championing the rights of everyday Australians to fairness, justice and equity, not just to those that can afford it. I look forward to supporting the growth of such a purpose-led business,” Gloster said.
Gloster’s appointment is also a step forward in Maurice Blackburn’s commitment to maintaining 50 per cent gender diversity in its board appointments. Gloster is an advocate for diversity and gender equality and is an advisor to UN Women Australia. She was awarded the 2021 Edna Ryan award for marketing a feminist different in media and communications and was recognised on B&T Magazine’s Top 30 Women in Media Power List.
Gloster’s contribution to the marketing industry also saw her recognised as one of two inaugural Australian Marketer’s Champions during the 2021 CMO50 program run by this publication. She was previously the CEO of the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA).
The Maurice Blackburn non-executive post is one of several advisory roles Gloster has under her consulting practice, Gloster Advisory. In addition, she is co-chair of the Tech Council of Australia’s Marketing sub-community.
Gloster will sit alongside Bracks as well as firm principals, Michelle James, Rebecca Gilsenan, Martin Hyde, Kim Shaw and Giri Sivaraman, plus non-executive director Peter Day. The law firm is overseen by CEO, Jacob Varghese.
