Nine recuits former CMO, PR strategy director to lead new Powered business unit

Former Visit Victoria GM of marketing and Edelman global strategy partner appointed for new business division

Nine has brought on Visit Victoria’s former general manager of marketing as one of two leadership appointments across its newly launched Powered Enterprise business.

Nicki Kenyon joins as one of two directors for the Powered Enterprise unit, which aims to help c-suite clientele improve their media performance by better understanding their horizon planning and co-creating strategies. The division was announced as part of Nine’s Upfront 2021 events.

Kenyon was most recently marketing leader for tourism body, Visit Victoria. Prior to this, she spent two-and-a-half years as APAC regional VP for digital and marketing at VISA, based in out of Singapore. She’s also held senior roles across global corporations and startups locally and across Asia-Pacific including with Facebook, AsiaRooms.com and Mastercard.

Kenyon is joined as a co-director of Powered by Michele O’Neill, who’s spent the last three years with Edelman as global strategy partner based out of London. She’s previously held executive strategy roles with WPP and IPG agencies in Europe, as well as Joy and VCCP in Sydney, and started her career as a camerawoman.

Kenyon will oversee Melbourne while O’Neill will oversee Sydney. Both report directly to Powered group director, Liana Dubois.

Speaking on her decision to take up the role, Kenyon said that as a client-side marketer, she’s always been motivated by driving business growth and “progressive, strategic and accountable marketing”.

“I’m thrilled to be tasked with taking the offering by Powered Enterprise, where content, data and technology truly come together in a meaningful, connected and actionable way, to our clients to help maximise marketing effectiveness and deliver business results,” she said.

O’Neill said she was looking forward to realising Nine Powered’s potential to shape big business ideas. “Finding compelling and distinctive ways to engage and move people is at the heart of how our brand helps business grow,” she commented.

“What influences people to make choices about the brand and therefore business they buy from is shifting. The potential for alchemy in Powered Enterprise is exciting.”

Dubois added Kenyon and O’Neill offered both diversity of local and global experience as well as expertise around marketing and strategy.
