Mobile customer experience consultancy, Geronimo, has brought on BT Financial’s former chief marketing officer as its new COO.
The appointment sees Mark Murray becoming not only operations chief but also a partner in the business, taking a financial stake.
Murray has spent the last 20 years as a marketer, spending the majority of his time in financial services. Roles on his resume include CMO at Westpac-owned wealth management business, BT Financial, for three-and-a-half years until 2016, as well as a 10-year stint with Commonwealth Bank, ending in GM of consumer marketing. He also spent six months as CMO of RateSetter Australia in 2018, and ran his own consulting services.
In a statement, the company said Murray will work alongside Geronimo founder and CEO, Matthew Hunt, to build and expand capabilities to meet rising demand for customer experience support within the mobile realm.
“I’m exciting to be investing in the business as we embark on our next phase of accelerated growth,” Murray said. “As a former marketer, I look forward to working with Matt and the team and using my experience in bringing together digital, data and marketing to deliver outstanding customer experiences for clients.”
Hunt said Murray joins at what is a pivotal moment in Geronimo’s growth trajectory. The company acquired near-field communications firm, Tapit Media, as well as digital creative agency, Digital Media Group, in 2017 to bolster its capabilities. Today, it works with several high-profile Australian brands including Blackmores, Tabcorp, Woolworths and Jurlique.
“We have ambitious plans to move into new markets and we continue to attract senior talent to the business to ensure that we are at the leading edge of mobile CX service delivery,” Hunt commented.
“Mark’s marketing background and deep understanding of strategy and execution will enable us to drive the business forward and I’m delighted he has come onboard.”
