JCDecaux announces new marketing leadership structure

Essie Wake leads the marketing team at the OOH giant

Following the acquisition of APN Outdoor in Australia and New Zealand in 2018, out-of-home (OOH) company, JCDecaux, has announced a new sales and marketing leadership structure.

Current chief marketing officer, Essie Wake, leads the marketing team, while the sales team is now led by chief commercial officer, Max Eburne.

JCDecaux Australia and New Zealand CEO, Steve O’Connor, announced a new leadership team for the combined JCDecaux and APN Outdoor businesses in November, following the $1.12 billion acquisition of APN Outdoor by the French OOH giant.

The CMO at JCDecaux, Wake, was appointed CMO of the joint businesses. Wake joined JCDecaux in 2011, and was previously marketing director. She has a 19-year career in the media industry, and prior to joining JCDecaux was research and strategy director with Initiative.

Wake replaced Charlotte Valente, who left APN Outdoor in October after only nine months.

The new appointments include Cristina Smart, who has been appointed head of data innovation and audience insight, and oversees the expanding national insights team for strategic sales support, and manages a team of data analysts with an eye on future data innovation and development.

Ashley Taylor is the head of creative solutions, and leads the expanded creative solutions team to deliver creative executions for advertisers.

Marie Norman is head of product and brand marketing and leads a newly created team of product marketing specialists and is also responsible for brand strategy and creative services.

Wake said: “The new marketing team is committed to cementing the JCDecaux brand and its global market leadership position in the Australian and New Zealand markets, as well as working hand in hand with the sales team to deliver the most outstanding and strategic Out-of-Home solutions and in-depth audience insights through data analytics.”

All appointments are effective immediately.
