Andrew Howie is leaving Westpac as head of advertising to take on Amazon Australia's head of brand post.
Howie, who’s leaving Westpac after nine months, confirmed with CMO he’s leaving, but also declined to comment on the specifics of the new role at Amazon.
Howie had joined the banking giant in a newly created role overseeing advertising. Prior to Westpac, he was group marketing manager for Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).
As reported earlier in CMO, Howie has built a strong reputation for his ability to lead cut-through, daring campaigns during his more than four years with MLA, firstly as the marketing manager of consumer promotions, before rising to group manager of marketing in October 2015.
During his advertising career, he has worked with global brands including Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, Toyota, Mars Food, Wrigley, Lion Nathan, Qantas and Air New Zealand.
Westpac’s head of brand, advertising and media, Jenny Melhuish, said the team will miss Howie’s “energy and passion” and wish him the best in his new role.
“We are always looking for great people to join our business and are currently recruiting for the role of head of advertising.”
