Seek has promoted its marketing director to the newly created role of chief commercial officer as part of efforts to drive better customer outcomes.

Kendra Banks takes up the new post immediately, gaining responsibility for customer and commercial relationships. The promotion comes 18 months after she joined the job site to cover all customer and B2B marketing across Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to this, Banks was a general manager at Coles, where she led the supermarket group’s private label product development, brand and marketing as well as its customer insights function. Her resume also includes stints with Tesco in the UK in a number of senior marketing roles including marketing director for the supermarket chain’s online business, as well as a strategy consulting role at McKinsey & Co.

In a statement, Seek managing director, Michael Ilczynski, said Banks will work alongside him as CEO. The creation of the position is a symbol of the company’s commitment to delivering great customer outcomes, he said.

“We continue to invest in people, product and technology to enhance and evolve the value we can give to candidates and hirers in the Seek marketplace,” he said.

“Kendra in the role of CCO will be instrumental to enabling us to deliver on this. She is an exceptionally strong operator and people leader and we are thrilled to have her take on this new role to build on the fantastic work she has been leading through our marketing initiatives.”

Seek has also promoted former head of self-service channels, Nicole Brolan, to product director, with former Seek product director, Doug Blue, now assuming the role of director of learning and career services.

Seek has not yet confirmed a replacement marketing director.
