Former iiNet CMO joins Mindshare

Wendy Walker makes the switch to agency land with a new regional growth-focused role at Mindshare

The former CMO of Australian ISP, iiNet, has popped up in a new regional role for Mindshare.

Wendy Walker has been appointed regional chief growth officer and will be based in Singapore. She takes over from Kevin Rooney, who has moved into a new role as managing director for m/SIX Asia-Pacific.

Walker was most recently the chief marketing officer for iiNet for 18 months, and has more than 20 years of marketing experience including director- and management-level positions with Telstra, the MBF group (now Bupa) and Ansett Australia.

In a statement, Mindshare said Walker will work with the leadership team to improve top-line growth by building greater momentum around prospecting, pitching and selling the agency’s products and services to new and existing customers. She will also be responsible for overseeing Mindshare’s brand marketing and PR efforts across Asia-Pacific.

“I’m thrilled to have joined the Mindshare family and to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and diverse team across the region,” Walker said following her appointment.

“Having worked closely with agency partners throughout my career, I'm really looking forward to using my marketing experience to contribute to the Mindshare business and our clients.”

Mindshare chairman for Asia and CEO of growth markets, Ashutosh Srivastava, said Walker’s extensive experience as a senior marketer opened up new opportunities for the organisation.

“Her track record of identifying core customer insights and translating those into tangible strategies and results is an ability we plan to leverage across the business,” he said in the statement. “Having worked all her career on the client side, Wendy will no doubt add immense value to our new business prospecting and pitching process, given her understanding of what clients look for from an agency partner.”

Walker's appointment comes a week after Mindshare Singapore has announced a number of key changes to its senior management including two senior hires, Ivan Wong and Eileen Lai, to lead the agency’s key accounts. Charmaine Deng also moved to a senior management role working alongside CEO, Nick Seckold to drive a number of critical commercial initiatives.
