SpecSavers has announced a trio of promotions across its marketing and customer engagement leaders in what the company said is a response to brand growth and individual performance.
Heading up the promotions list is director of marketing A/NZ, Jane Hoban, who is stepping up to trading director A/NZ after a four-year tenure at SpecSavers. In a statement, the retailer said the promotion was recognition for her role leading growth, customer acquisition and retention efforts.
Also getting a step up is Shaun Briggs, former head of marketing planning, who will now assume the role of director of marketing planning A/NZ overseeing all marketing activities. SpecSavers said the promotion merges the leadership of media, PR, planning and creative teams under a unified strategy.
In the statement, SpecSavers noted Brigg’s experience on agency-side including as MD of Initiative, GM of Dentsu Mitchell and client leadership positions at Mediacom will be invaluable in this new position. Briggs joined the retailer in January 2019.
The third promotion is that of Dario Garma, former head of customer engagement, ecommerce and strategic partnership. Garma is now the director of customer engagement, with a focus on driving business growth through an end-to-end customer strategy in A/NZ. Garma has been with SpecSavers for 15 years, commencing as a direct marketing manager before stepping up to head of customer engagement, ecommerce and strategic partnerships in May 2020.
In the third and final episode of our 3-part CMO50 video series exploring modern marketing and why it’s become a matter of trust, we’re delighted to be joined by Telstra’s former CMO and now digital services and sales executive, Jeremy Nicholas, and Adobe VP Marketing Asia-Pacific and Japan, Duncan Egan.
Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.
Why is it there is no shortage of leadership development materials, yet outstanding leadership is so rare? Despite having access to so many leadership principles, tools, systems and processes, why is it so hard to develop and improve as a leader?
As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
