Important announcement: CMO Momentum 2022 update

CMO is letting readers know of an important update to our CMO Momentum event, initially scheduled to return to an in-person format on 25 August 2022.

Following work undertaken internally over recent months to determine a path forward for CMO Momentum that best supports our audience, our partners and Foundry (formerly IDG Communications), we have identified the need to spend more time on the format and structure of the conference as we return to in-person environments.

As a result, CMO wishes to confirm Foundry has made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the 2022 edition of our CMO Momentum event.

CMO is a publication and brand dedicated to helping modern marketing leaders be successful. Our media offering, editorial and event programs are packed full of expert insights, advice and peer-led explorations into the latest marketing and customer engagement trends, data and technology innovations, leadership tips and more.

We’re delighted to say all of these topics will be in the spotlight as part of our virtual event on 15 June 2022 exploring this year’s State of the CMO. Now in its sixth year, the annual State of the CMO research initiative aims to gauge how Australian marketing leadership is evolving both in terms of functional role, as well as contribution to business.

CMO’s upcoming State of the CMO webinar will delve into key 2022 findings through a stellar panel of local and global marketing leaders from Adore Beauty, Pernod Ricard, Laser Clinics Australia and Optimizely.

CMO readers can find the details and register for this free virtual event on 15 June 2022 here.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
