Former Afterpay CMO makes board member at Mad Paws

Marketing leader joins fast-growing online pet services platform

Mad Paws, the recently ASX-listed online marketplace for pet services, has appointed Vicki Aristidopoulos to its board.

The pet services platform matches more than half a million Australians using pet care services such as pet minding, walking, and grooming, with more than 22,000 pet service providers.

As Afterpay’s chief marketing officer until the end of 2019, Aristidopoulos helped the pay-later platform through its recent intense growth phase and takes significant experience in brand, customer growth and ecommerce to Mad Paws.

“Mad Paws is an impressive, fast-growing digital marketplace and trusted brand which serves the needs of a loyal community of pet owners and pet service providers. I’m excited to join the board and support its talented management team to serve its growing community,” Aristidopolous said.

Aristidopoulos has been recognised for delivering successful digital transformation and customer experience strategies in senior executive roles she has held at NewsCorp, Fairfax Media, CommSec and Foxtel. She also sits on the global advisory board of app-based travel insurer, Freely, and is an independent advisor to financial services firm, Wilsons.

Mad Paws listed publicly in March this year in an over-subscribed initial public offering which raised $12 million; the company had a market cap of $42.9m upon listing.

The pet services business started in 2014 as a Sydney-based startup founded by Justus Hammer, Jan Pacas and Alexis Soulopoulos.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
