Ad Standards CEO, Fiona Jolly, is set to depart from the industry body after nearly 15 years at the helm.
Jolly, who is taking her leave to pursue other opportunities, said her time as CEO was rewarding and challenging and is thankful to have had the opportunity to make a difference during her time.
“I am proud to have contributed to raising the standard for advertising self-regulation in Australia and globally,” said Jolly.
The board will now review both the strategic and operational needs of the body as the industry emerges from COVID-19. Ad Standards chair, David Scribner, acknowledged Jolly’s achievements and said it’s committed to continuing as an independent and sustainable industry self-regulator. “And to give advertisers and the public confidence that the system continues to run in the public interest,” Scribner said.
“We know from our research the Australian public has a very high level of satisfaction with the standard of advertising in Australia. That is, in major part, due to the integrity and consistency of the Ad Standards Community Panel which adjudicates complaints about advertising content under Fiona’s expert guidance,” he said.
Ad Standards is the organisation handling all complaints about commercial advertising in Australia, including complaints that breach the self-regulatory system’s over-arching code, the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) code of ethics.
