LG Electronics Australia appoints national marketing director

Former Samsung marketer, Gemma Lemieux, gets the nod

LG Electronics Australia has appointed Gemma Lemieux as its marketing director.

Lemieux previously held senior regional roles with Panasonic and Samsung and joins LG from lifestyle and athletics apparel company, Zuu, where she was the founder and director.

Her past roles include group product manager at Orange Telecommunications, head of marketing, corporate and telecommunications at Samsung Australia, director of marketing communications at Panasonic Australia, and director of marketing APAC for Navico APAC.

In her new role she will oversee all LG marketing and brand activity. LG Electronics Australia human resource director, Amanda Jackson, said Lemieux has extensive industry experience, a passion for brand building and deep understanding of the markets in which we operate.

"She is a valued addition to the LG team during this important period for our business,” she said.

The news follows Angus Jones stepping down as CMO and general manager of marketing of LG Australia late last year.

Jones had been in the role for over four years. Prior to LG, Jones held various marketing positions at Dell, also for just over four years. He also spent 11 years with Hewlett-Packard.

Lemieux will begin the new role later this month.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
