Amart Furniture appoints former ALDI, Westpac marketer as customer GM

Samuel Viney, former Westpac head of advertising moves to Amart Furniture as general manager, customer

Former Westpac head of advertising, Samuel Viney, has a new role as general manager, customer, at Amart Furniture. The role had been vacant since earlier this year.

“I am thrilled to join Amart Furniture at a really important time in our history,"  Viney told CMO. "Over the last few years, we have built upon our reputation for quality, expanded our product range and opened dozens of new stores, all the while maintaining our unbeatable prices."

Viney took the advertising post at the banking giant in January this year, reporting into Westpac Group’s head of group brands, and advertising and media, Jenny Melhuish.

Prior to Westpac, Viney was customer interaction lead for ALDI South at the global headquarters in Germany, and before that marketing director for ALDI Australia. Under his lead, ALDI Australia won a number of effectiveness awards, helping to deliver significant sales growth and market share for the brand in a cluttered and competitive market.

Viney, who spent four years with BMF Australia before Aldi, and has experience managing large scale marketing programs and developing of customer interaction functionality, sees the challenges ahead.

“The furniture market is increasingly complex, so it is crucial that we understand Australian shoppers better than anyone else and move quickly to meet and exceed their expectations," he commented. "With some great marketing and digital talent already in place, a collaborative senior leadership team and most importantly, some of the best store staff anywhere in Australia, I am confident we can deliver against these ambitions.”

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
