New marketing leader for Oaks Minor Hotels group

Marketing and brand leader joins from Menulog

Oaks Hotels and Resorts has brought on a new director of brand and marketing for its Minor Hotels group as one of two fresh executive appointments.

Melissa Rodrigues joins the group after two-and-a-half years as head of brand and marketing communications for ecommerce ordering platform, Menulog, where she was tasked with its brand refresh. Prior to this, she worked at Carnival Australia, overseeing the P&O Cruise brand.

Across her marketing career, Rodrigues has also held brand and marketing roles with Qantas, Telstra and Nine.

She joins the Oaks group has director of brand and marketing for Minor Hotels across A/NZ, a group of hotel brands including Oaks, Avani, Tivoli, NH and elewana collection. It’s a role that sees Rodrigues developing strategic brand and tactical marketing plans locally in line with global direction, and overseeing digital, brand PR, loyalty and creative functions. She’s based in Sydney.

Alongside Rodrigues, Oaks has also confirmed John Thompson as its new head of commercial for Minor Hotels in A/NZ. The role is responsible for business growth and commercial strategy.

Thompson joins Oaks from InterContinental Hotel Group, where he looked after commercial strategy for more than 20 properties in England and Scotland. He boasts of more than 20 years in the hotel and hospitality sector.
