Mondelez has promoted its category marketing head to director of marketing for its chocolate business in A/NZ.

Paul Chatfield, who has been with the snacking giant since 2012 and started as category head of seasonal merchandise, takes over the reins from Kjetil Undhjem, who is returning with the business back to Europe.

Chatfield has more than 18 years’ experience in marketing, previously working for Arnott’s, Heinz and Lion Drinks and Dairy’s Vitasoy before joining Mondelez. In a statement, area VP of A/NZ and Japan, Amanda Banfield, said she was delighted to see Chatfield promoted following a strong six years with the business.

“With experience across the full chocolate portfolio, Paul has most recently been leading the Cadbury Dairy Milk brand, launched Cadbury Dairy Milk – the first country in the world to bring this new chocolate taste to the market, and led the relaunch of Marvellous Creations and spearheaded a new approach to brand sponsorships,” she said.

Chatfield said it was a privilege and exciting opportunity to be leading the iconic and much-loved portfolio of brands into a new chapter of growth.

“We have one of the strongest brand marketing teams in the industry and with them, I look forward to delighting our consumers with the best Cadbury chocolate experiences every day, through a relentless focus on quality, communication that connects and entertains, and unexpected innovation that exceeds Australian and New Zealand expectations,” he said.

Mondelez is the parent company overseeing a number of global iconic brands including Cadbury, Oreo, The Natural Confectionery Company and BelVita.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
