Aged care and disability services provider, Mable, has brought on former RedBalloon growth leader and marketer, Matthew Cavalier, as its new chief growth officer.
The new role sees Cavalier overseeing marketing, performance marketing, strategic partnerships and marketplace development, including category management and workforce development. He officially takes up the reins on 23 May and reports into Mable CEO, Peter Scutt.
Cavalier joins from Big Red Group, the owners of brands such as RedBalloon, Adrenaline, Experience Oz and Lime&Tonic, where he has been overseeing the growth agenda for the past four years. Part of this role was spearheading customer lifecycle and owning revenue and new business generation.
Prior to this, Cavalier did a short stint as managing director of the Australian Institute of Management and also previously oversaw sales and marketing for its Scentia education brands. His resume also includes GM, marketing, digital transformation and strategy roles with Investec UK and American Express.
“With his passion for people, strong customer experience and willingness to embrace innovation that improves people's lives, Matt is the perfect fit for helping Mable achieve its mission and vision,” Scutt said. “Matthew has a proven track record of developing organisations and critical relationships, leading to new opportunities and strategic partnerships. He has a commonsense approach to business in that he believes a brand should deliver on its promises and that the customer experience should marry with expectations.
“His career journey has spanned three continents and multiple industries, including financial services, media, ecommerce and tech startups, and we can’t wait to see Matthew's impact at Mable.”
Cavalier said he’s spurred on professionally from wanting to achieve the best outcomes for online communities that the business serves.
“To do this, internal and external operations need to be working harmoniously while also focusing on external market dynamics, customer needs and setting strategies for the future; that’s where my forte lies,” he commented. “I have sat with suppliers, and the different teams, listening to what’s working, what could be improved and learning the opportunities to bring them to life to accelerate a business to meet its goals.
“At Mable, I am looking forward to building on our strengths to connect aged care consumers and NDIS participants across Australia with Support Providers who can deliver individualised in-home care and support services.”
In the third and final episode of our 3-part CMO50 video series exploring modern marketing and why it’s become a matter of trust, we’re delighted to be joined by Telstra’s former CMO and now digital services and sales executive, Jeremy Nicholas, and Adobe VP Marketing Asia-Pacific and Japan, Duncan Egan.
Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.
Why is it there is no shortage of leadership development materials, yet outstanding leadership is so rare? Despite having access to so many leadership principles, tools, systems and processes, why is it so hard to develop and improve as a leader?
As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
