Elizabeth Minogue departs REA Group

This follows the appointment of former NBN Co marketer, Kieran Cooney, as the company’s first CMO 18 months ago

Elizabeth Minogue, EGM media and content at REA Group, is departing the company after less than three years, as the digital advertising business ‘realigns’ its teams.

This follows the appointment of former NBN Co marketer, Kieran Cooney, as the company’s first CMO 18 months ago. As a result of the introduction of the CMO role, Minogue, who previously also oversaw the marketing function, narrowed her focus to media only, and was tasked with growing the group’s media and news plus lifestyle content globally.

REA also announced the media and content teams will be realigned within REA’s structure to areas where there are ‘significant synergies’. The media teams will join the commercial and developer team, and the content and social teams will become part of the consumer marketing team.

In a statement, REA said Minogue has built and led teams across media, brand marketing, social/content and programmatic, as well as business functions including product, data, tech, and sales.

Tracey Fellows, REA Group CEO, said Minogue has made a lasting contribution to the business.

“Under her leadership, the Media and Content business has seen significant growth and success,” she said.

“Libby spearheaded our Lifestyle strategy, helping realestate.com.au move beyond property listings into content. Since launching in 2017, Lifestyle has seen a 250 per cent growth in revenue and attracted more than 20 million visits.”

Minogue said she’s very proud of what has been achieved.

“I’m confident that the teams I’ve built are in a great position for ongoing success,” Minogue said.

Minogue will remain in her role at REA Group until September 30, and is deputy chair of the IAB focusing on the ongoing growth of the digital industry in the Australian market. She also sits on the board of Tennis Australia.

REA Group operates Australia’s leading residential and commercial property websites, realestate.com.au and realcommercial.com.au, Chinese property site myfun.com and a number of property portals in Asia via its ownership of iProperty Group. REA Group owns Smartline Home Loans Pty Ltd, an Australian mortgage broking franchise group, and Hometrack Australia Pty Ltd, a leading provider of data property services.

Marketing prowess versus the enigma of the metaverse

Flash back to the classic film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Television-obsessed Mike insists on becoming the first person to be ‘sent by Wonkavision’, dematerialising on one end, pixel by pixel, and materialising in another space. His cinematic dreams are realised thanks to rash decisions as he is shrunken down to fit the digital universe, followed by a trip to the taffy puller to return to normal size.

More than money talks in sports sponsorship

As a nation united by sport, brands are beginning to learn money alone won’t talk without aligned values and action. If recent events with major leagues and their players have shown us anything, it’s the next generation of athletes are standing by what they believe in – and they won’t let their values be superseded by money.
